B is for Boatsheds. The Antigua Boat Sheds Bridge and Boat Sheds are both significant historical places with loads of gems to find. The 1882 Antigua Boat Sheds are the last survivor of a number of commercial boat sheds that once stood along the banks of the river. Rowing boats are still available for hire from these premises. Or hire a punt to take you in style. The footbridge was built to provide access to the hospital. It is the third on the site, and although modified, dates principally from 1901 and was recently recently reopened after the 2010/11 earthquakes. Don’t forget to check out the water as if you are lucky you may even catch a glimpse of their new resident eel.
