Kia ora | Hello
We look forward to hosting you in our wonderful city. We start by introducing the meaning behind the name Ōtautahi and follow the footsteps of our ancestors, sharing many traditional Māori and Settlers stories and ways of life.
Our guides teach you a traditional māori greeting and introduce our guiding principle of manaakitanga including our whakatauki (proverb) ‘Kia atawhai ki te iwi’, Care for your people.
We walk past traditional mahinga kai (food gathering) and historical pā (māori village) sites and bring to life the stories of the past and present as how they have been woven into our emerging city.
We offer a welcoming drink from a unique establishment and sample some of our local artisians finest delights as we weave the laneways sharing many of our city gems hidden in plain sight before making our way to one of our city’s iconic eating establishments where we will finish for lunch
Mā te wa | Until then
